I Am Not Scared, Not Afraid of Cases: RGV Releases a Video!
Controversial filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma (RGV) has released a video in response to reports of Andhra Pradesh Police searching for him. In the video, he asserted that he is neither frightened nor intimidated by the police notices and sarcastically remarked on how his social media posts, allegedly targeting certain individuals, could offend others.
RGV questioned how legal cases and sections could be applied if someone other than the intended recipients of his posts feels offended. He accused political parties in power of misusing legal provisions to file cases for their benefit. RGV stated that such practices are not limited to India but occur worldwide, including in Europe and the USA. However, he emphasized that there should be a proper method for everything.
RGV mentioned that he is currently occupied with a movie shoot and cannot attend the inquiry, as it would cause financial losses to the producer. He questioned the urgency in investigating a case based on tweets he posted a year ago and asked why the case was being expedited. He also highlighted how serious crimes such as murders and assaults take years to investigate, yet his minor case was being handled with unusual haste.
Despite his criticisms, RGV clarified that he has responded to the notices served to him.
It is known that cases were registered against RGV in Andhra Pradesh for allegedly posting objectionable content on social media targeting the then-opposition leader Chandrababu Naidu, his son Lokesh, and actor-politician Pawan Kalyan. Following this, Ongole police issued a notice summoning RGV for questioning.
After RGV failed to appear for questioning twice, the police visited his house to take him into custody. However, he was not found at his residence, prompting the police to return empty-handed. The authorities are now actively searching for him.
