A startling twist has emerged in the widely circulated story of a woman allegedly eloping with a beggar in Uttar Pradesh. The incident, initially reported as a case of the woman abandoning her husband and six children, along with cash and jewelry from the house, has taken a new turn. The husband had suspected that his wife ran away with a beggar who was often seen loitering near their home. Following his complaint, the police launched a search operation and traced the woman. Upon questioning, she revealed that she had left due to persistent harassment by her husband and had taken refuge at a relative’s house.

The incident took place in Harpalpur, a village in Hardoi district of Uttar Pradesh. Rajeshwari, who is married to Raju and has six children, left home on January 3, telling her family she was going to buy vegetables. When she didn’t return, her husband Raju searched the market and nearby areas before filing a complaint with the police. According to Raju, cash and jewelry were missing from their house. He also alleged that his wife often chatted with a beggar who used to frequent their street and suspected that they might have eloped together, as both had gone missing.

As the local media began reporting on the matter, it caused a stir in the district, with newspapers running headlines about the woman leaving her family for a beggar. Taking the case seriously, the police intensified their search and found Rajeshwari at a relative’s house on Tuesday evening. During interrogation, she denied the allegations of eloping with the beggar, stating that she had left because she could no longer endure the physical and verbal abuse inflicted by her husband. She accused her husband of deliberately lodging a false complaint to malign her image.

The police are continuing their investigation to verify the allegations and resolve the case.
