Andhra Pradesh Unveils Policy to Boost Electronics Jobs and Investments
The Andhra Pradesh government has announced a major policy initiative aimed at advancing the electronics manufacturing sector in the state. As part of this move, the government has issued new guidelines for a comprehensive electronics manufacturing policy, with a vision to facilitate the production of electronics goods worth ₹4.2 lakh crore and attract investments amounting to 10 billion USD.
According to the government, this ambitious investment plan is expected to generate substantial employment opportunities for the youth of the state. The policy outlines a wide array of incentives based on the investment scale and category of electronics manufacturing units.
One of the core incentives includes a complete exemption from stamp duty for electronics production units. In addition, the government will provide a monthly incentive of ₹4,000 to ₹6,000 per employee for five years, aimed at supporting employment within the industry.
Electricity, which plays a crucial role in industrial development, will also be offered at highly subsidized rates. The government has decided to supply electricity to electronics manufacturing units at just ₹1 per unit for a period of five years.
The government emphasized that Andhra Pradesh offers a conducive environment for investments, citing the presence of existing electronics clusters in regions such as Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Sri City, Nellore, Kadapa, and Anantapur. The availability of skilled youth, favorable government policies, an efficient logistics network, and strategic industrial infrastructure like the Visakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor were highlighted as advantages for investors.
With this integrated set of incentives and support mechanisms, the Andhra Pradesh government aims to establish the state as a significant hub for electronics manufacturing in India.
