Nara Lokesh Guides Korean LG Officials on Indian Traditions During Pooja

A Bhoomi Pooja ceremony was held today at Sri City for the upcoming LG Electronics manufacturing unit. The event was conducted in accordance with Indian traditions and was attended by Andhra Pradesh Minister for Electronics, IT, and Education Nara Lokesh, along with representatives from LG Electronics.

During the ceremony, a notable incident occurred. Korean representatives from LG Electronics arrived at the pooja site wearing footwear. Observing this, Nara Lokesh gently explained to them the Indian tradition of not wearing shoes during religious ceremonies. He respectfully requested that they remove their footwear before participating in the pooja.

The LG representatives immediately honored Nara Lokesh’s request. They removed their footwear and sat on the ground with attentiveness and reverence to participate in the ritual. They engaged in the traditional proceedings, including the symbolic breaking of coconuts and other pooja rites, conducted in accordance with religious customs. The respectful attitude of the foreign delegates towards Indian traditions impressed the attendees. The initiative taken by Nara Lokesh and the cultured behavior of the Korean representatives added a distinctive character to the event.

LG Electronics is set to establish its production facility at Sri City with an investment of approximately ₹5,000 crore. The plant is expected to directly provide employment opportunities to around 2,000 people. Once the unit reaches full-scale operations, the company aims to meet 70 percent of the domestic demand for air conditioners (ACs) from this facility.
