Andhra University Temporarily Closes Hostels Amid Border Tensions

In light of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, Andhra University in Visakhapatnam has taken a critical decision prioritising student safety. The university authorities announced that all student hostels on campus will be temporarily closed starting today.

Citing the prevailing unrest along the borders, university officials explained that the decision was taken as a precautionary measure. The administration has issued clear directives that students who have already completed their examinations must immediately vacate the hostels and return to their native places safely.

Officials emphasized that student welfare and safety remain their foremost responsibilities.

In an official statement, the Andhra University Registrar stated that, in addition to security concerns, the shutdown also addresses other issues such as an ongoing water shortage in the hostels and the need to carry out annual maintenance work. During this closure period, essential repairs will be undertaken, and efforts will be made to improve the water supply infrastructure within the hostel premises.

Authorities added that a further announcement regarding the reopening of hostels will be made once the situation stabilizes.
