Man carries son’s body on bike: FIR registered against ambulance drivers, says Minister Roja
Tirupati, April 26: Tourism Minister R.K. Roja on Tuesday said that the police identified ambulance drivers and registered FIR against them for demanding exorbitant amount to ferry a dead body from Ruia Hospital to native place of the deceased. Even, they did not allow another ambulance to enter the hospital for transporting the body, she stated. In a helpless situation, father carried his son’s body on a scooter.
The political parties and social activists have criticised officials of the Ruia Hospital and ambulance drivers. Responding over the issue, Roja stated that the state government will take disciplinary action against those who are responsible.
“A committee was set up with RDO, DMHO and DSP to probe into the incident,” she mentioned. After preliminary investigation, the panel found that ambulance drivers at Ruia Hospital formed a syndicate to loot kin of dead patients. Leader of the Opposition N. Chandrababu Naidu has termed the incident as failure of the YSRCP government.
