Chennai: An ice cream parlour offers chilled cone ice cream for just Rs 2. With this, the parlour has now become a trending topic on social media. Where is this parlour‌, why is it selling at such a low price? Netizens started searching the internet to see if the quality is good.

An ice cream parlor called Vinu Igloo was opened in 1995 in the Mambalam area of Chennai. In those days cone ice cream was sold here for just Rs 2. This clicked in that area. The price of ice cream did not change as their unique selling point was the same. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, the parlour was closed in 2008. 

Vinu Igloo Ice Cream Parlour was reopened in February 2022 by its owner Vinoth. Cone ice cream is priced at Rs 2 as an initial offer to impress older customers. After a few days, they wanted to change the price to suit the market. But the love shown by old and new customers coming to buy Rs 2 cone ice cream, the owner decided not to change the price. 

Vinu Igloo specialises in cone ice cream, which is still priced at Rs 2. Especially after the onset of summer, the Vinu story spread all over Chennai. Within a few days after that, Vinu's popularity increased through the media and social media. On the one hand, everyone is questioning how they can give ice cream for Rs 2 if prices are skyrocketing.

Answering customer questions, Vinoth said, “We make ice cream with milk. Quality is nowhere to be compromised. The average price of this ice cream in the market is Rs 20. But, we are selling for Rs 2. However, people who come to eat this ice cream will compensate for the loss by buying high-profit cakes and kova. He replied that the emotion of Rs 2 ice cream started by our father will continue.”
