CM Jagan inaugurates Vakula Matha temple near Tirupati
Tirupati, June 23: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday inaugurated renovated Vakula Matha temple at Peruru here. Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Executive Officer A.V. Dharma Reddy, Ministers Peddireddi Ramachandra Reddy and Roja, and other TTD officials have accompanied Jagan.
After opening the temple, the CM was the first devotee to offer prayers to goddess Vakula Matha. He also planted a sapling on the premises of the temple.
It is believed that devotees used to visit Vakula Matha temple first and offer prayers and then proceed to Tirumala. For the last several decades, temple was in state of neglect as it was under the control of land mafia. Illegal quarrying had made temple inaccessible to devotees.
According to reports, the TTD did not make effort to open the temple. After YSRCP came to power, Peddireddi personally took interest and restored the temple as he took a vow to do so.
