Hyderabad, July 12: Marredpally CI Nageswara Rao jailed on charges of rape and kidnap has allegedly collected crores of rupees from betting organisers and drug peddlers when he was attached with North Zone Task Force for five years. Even, he reportedly had close association with a rowdy-sheeter.

His colleagues said that he always preferred to work in task force for impressing higher officials. The arrested CI established a huge network in the city and appointed three private persons as money collection agents for him. He was also reportedly involved in settlements. All the money he earned illegally invested in real estate.

Police officials did not bother to take action against Nageswara Rao despite receiving several complaints from victims on the pretext of no evidence.
