Bhadrachalam: Godavari floods triggered by cloudburst, YS Sharmila flays KCR

Bhadradri Kothagudem, July 23: YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) founder-president Y.S. Sharmila on Saturday visited flood-hit areas in Bhadrachalam and interacted with people. Later, she sat on dharna in front of Sub-Collector’s office demanding speedy payment of compensation to flood victims.
 
Addressing the gathering, the YSRTP chief flayed Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) for saying Godavari floods triggered by cloudburst. She also came down heavily on Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar for blaming backwater of the Polavaram Project reason for Bhadrachalam flooding. Sharmila slammed KCR for visiting Bhadrachalam after six days of flooding. “KCR did not interact with flood-affected people,” she faulted.
 
The YSRTP president said that her father and late chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy had initiated construction of a band around Bhadrachalam town to stop floodwater from entering into the temple town. She criticised the TRS government for not completing band construction in the last eight years.
