CPI will support Congress at national-level but not in Munugode: Narayana

Hyderabad, August 20: CPI national secretary K. Narayana on Saturday clarified that his party will support the Congress in all states but not in Munugode. By-election is necessitated to Munugode Assembly constituency with the resignation of Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy.

The CPI declared support to the TRS in by-election after Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) made a request. Narayana stated that the CPI will extend support to political parties which are rival to the BJP.

Meanwhile, CPI Telangana state secretary Chada Venkat Reddy mentioned that Komatireddy Rajgopal joined the BJP with a selfish motive and imposed by-election on people by resigning to MLA post. “As the TRS alone can defeat the BJP, the CPI decided to support the TRS candidate,” he added.

Even the Congress sought support of the CPI and CPM in by-election. But Left parties are of the view that support to the Congress will benefit the BJP.
