Chandrababu calls for movement to protect Telugu language and culture

Amaravati, August 29: TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu gave a call for movement to protect Telugu language and culture on the occasion of the 159th birth anniversary of Gidugu Ramamurthy Panthulu. August 29 is celebrated as Telugu Language Day every year in Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking to the media here on Monday after paying tributes to Gidugu, he expressed anguish over scrapping of Telugu medium in all government schools from the academic year 2024-25. “It is unfortunate that Telugu as a medium of instruction in government schools is removed in Andhra Pradesh which was the first state to be formed on the basis on language,” he stated.

Chandrababu alleged that Rs 63 crore belonging to the Telugu and Sanskrit Akademi were siphoned off. “No use of Telugu and Sanskrit Akademi to state,” he slammed and stated that the Andhra Pradesh Official Language Commission has become defunct. Other TDP leaders were present.
