Delhi HC angry on DoPT for referring graft plaint against Telangana Special CS to CS

Delhi, September 12: The Delhi High Court on Monday expressed anger over the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) for directing Telangana Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar to take action against Special Chief Secretary based on the complaint submitted by one G. Srinivas.

The complainant said allegations were levelled against Special Chief Secretary (Irrigation) Rajat Kumar for making private contractors to pay bills of his daughter’s marriage. Instead of initiating probe on Rajat Kumar, DoPT sought the CS to look into the complaint.

G. Srinivas approached the Delhi High Court objecting DoPT referring the matter to the CS. “How can CS can order probe against Special CS,” judge Yashwanth Sinha asked lawyer representing the Central government. The High Court served a notice to the DoPT and asked to respond within two weeks and adjourned the hearing to September 30. In the petition, Srinivas also urged the court to prosecute Rajat Kumar.
