YV Subba Reddy Calls for Extended Period for Hyderabad as Joint Capital

As we approach a decade since the bifurcation of the united Andhra Pradesh, there have been significant developments regarding the state capital. In 2014, during the state division, Hyderabad was declared the joint capital for a period of ten years, a term that is now nearing its end. In this context, YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) senior leader YV Subba Reddy made some interesting remarks.

He suggested that for the welfare of the state, Hyderabad should remain the joint capital for a bit longer. He expressed that it would be beneficial if Hyderabad continues as the joint capital until the full establishment and operational readiness of the new capital at Visakhapatnam.

Subba Reddy revealed that post-elections, the Chief Minister and the leadership of YSRCP would discuss this matter further. He criticized the previous Telugu Desam Party government for merely extending time under the temporary solution without making substantial progress in building the new capital for five years.
