Prathipati Sarath, Son of TDP Senior Leader, Remanded Over Financial Irregularities
In a significant development in the arrest case of Sarath, son of senior TDP leader Prathipati Pulla Rao, a crucial turn of events took place on Thursday night. After conducting medical examinations for Sarath, police presented him before Judge Kareemulla at the First Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Christurajapuram.
After hearing arguments from both sides, the judge imposed a 14-day judicial remand on Sarath under section 469. The judge also clarified that section 409 does not apply to this case. Following the remand, Sarath was transferred to the district jail in Vijayawada. It is known that Sarath was arrested in Hyderabad on Thursday over allegations of GST evasion and misappropriation of funds in construction works.
Upon a complaint by DRI officials, the Machavaram police registered a case against Sarath and seven others, including his wife and brother-in-law. The main allegation involves misappropriation of funds and tax evasion. Sarath was charged under IPC sections 420, 409, 467, 471, 477A, 120B read with 34.
Meanwhile, TDP leader Pattabhiram stated in a press conference on Thursday that Sarath had worked as an additional director at Alexa Company for only three months. He accused that the case was politically motivated by Jagan to cause trouble, especially with elections approaching.
