Secunderabad Cantonment Sees a Political Shift: BJP Candidate Joins Congress

Hyderabad: In a major development in Secunderabad Cantonment's political landscape, necessitated by the untimely demise of MLA Lasya Nandita, politics have heated up. Sreeganesh Narayanan, who contested the Assembly elections in December from this seat as a BJP candidate and secured the second position, surprisingly joined the Congress Party.

On Tuesday night, he switched allegiances to the Congress Party, prompted by a ticket assurance. The joining ceremony, held at the residence of TPCC Working President Mahesh Kumar, was witnessed by other party leaders including Mainampalli Hanumantharao and Mahender Reddy. Sreeganesh was seen donning the Congress scarf in their presence, following discussions facilitated by CM Revanth Reddy’s instructions.

Speaking about his decision to join the Congress, Sreeganesh Narayanan stated that his switch was solely for the development of the Secunderabad Cantonment constituency. He expressed optimism that the Congress would demonstrate its strength in both the Lok Sabha elections and the upcoming by-election for the cantonment constituency.

He revealed that after two days of discussions with senior party leaders and former MLAs, including Patnam Mahender Reddy and Mainampalli Hanumantharao, his integration into the Congress was finalized. Interestingly, until Tuesday afternoon, he was campaigning for the BJP, even joining Eatala Rajender in Malkajgiri for election campaigning. His sudden party switch has left the BJP ranks in shock.
