Rayalaseema Deserves a Second Capital: Former Minister Sailajanath

Former minister Sake Sailajanath criticized the decision to shift the High Court, originally proposed for Kurnool, to Amaravati. He argued that establishing a High Court bench in Kurnool instead of the full High Court is unjust to the Rayalaseema region. He recalled that the previous YSR Congress Party government had proposed setting up the High Court in Kurnool but lamented that this decision was not implemented.

Sailajanath expressed concern over moving the Andhra Pragathi Grameena Bank headquarters from Kadapa to Amaravati, questioning the necessity of such a move. He stated that the relocation of both the capital and the High Court to Amaravati ignores the interests of Rayalaseema. To address this imbalance, he demanded the establishment of a second capital in the Rayalaseema region.

He warned that unilateral decisions could deepen regional disparities and potentially lead to the resurgence of separatist movements, further destabilizing the state.
