AP-Telangana CSs Meet: Partial Resolutions, Power Dues Unsettled

A meeting between the Chief Secretaries (CSs) of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana was held today in Andhra Pradesh to address unresolved bifurcation issues stemming from the state's division. While agreements were reached on three topics, the issue of electricity dues remains unresolved.

Key Outcomes:
Labour Cess Distribution: Both states agreed to share ₹861 crore in labour cess, marking a significant step in resolving financial disputes. Department officials from both states will hold discussions to finalize the details of the cess allocation.

Schedule 9 and 10 Institutions: The division of assets and liabilities of institutions listed in Schedules 9 and 10 of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act remains unsettled, requiring further deliberation.

Employee Transfers: Discussions were held regarding the allocation and transfer of employees between the two states.

Joint Committees for Drug Control: A decision was made to establish joint committees involving police and excise departments to combat drug trafficking effectively.

Both states' Chief Secretaries emphasized the need for another round of meetings to resolve pending bifurcation issues, including electricity dues and institutional asset division. The meeting lasted approximately two hours, with senior officials from both states participating.
