Vijayasai Reddy Refutes Allegations Linking Him to Kakinada Port Controversy
YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MP Vijayasai Reddy expressed his anger over allegations made by TDP leaders that linked his name to the Kakinada Port controversy and claimed lookout notices were issued against him. Speaking to the media this evening, Vijayasai Reddy strongly refuted these allegations.
TDP leader Anam Venkataramana Reddy had previously alleged that Vikrant Reddy, son of YV Subba Reddy, along with Sarath Reddy—who was jailed in the liquor scam—and Vijayasai Reddy, had threatened KV Rao. According to the allegations, KV Rao was coerced into selling Kakinada SEZ lands worth ₹2,000 crore for just ₹12 crore and shares in Kakinada Sea Port valued at ₹2,689 crore for a mere ₹494 crore.
Reacting to these claims, Vijayasai Reddy questioned the plausibility of the allegations. “They are saying Vikrant Reddy threatened KV Rao. Vikrant Reddy is a young man, while KV Rao is a well-established and resourceful individual. How could someone like Vikrant Reddy intimidate KV Rao? Does that even make sense? If Vikrant Reddy truly threatened him, did KV Rao actually get scared?"
He further added, "KV Rao spends six months of the year in the United States and operates as a global broker with a main office in Singapore. Can such a person really be threatened by someone like Vikrant Reddy? It's laughable to believe this."
Addressing other allegations, Vijayasai Reddy said, "They are accusing me of being a nominee for two chartered accountant firms. Let me clarify: nominees are appointed for bank accounts, not for chartered accountant firms. Does Chandrababu Naidu even understand this basic fact? It seems like his judgment is clouded."
Elaborating on the Kakinada Port issue, Vijayasai Reddy said, "Kakinada Port was established with funding from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and was meant to remain a government asset. However, Chandrababu Naidu privatized it. At the time, it was rumored that the Malaysian Prime Minister’s son was buying the port. But under this guise, the port was handed over to KV Rao, who became its CMD."
He demanded a thorough investigation into the developments surrounding the Kakinada Port from 1997 onward. "If you want to uncover the truth about what happened with the Kakinada Port, there needs to be a CBI probe. Chandrababu Naidu keeps calling others criminals, but he himself is the real criminal. KV Rao is nothing but a stooge for Chandrababu. If KV Rao had genuinely faced any injustice, why didn’t he approach the courts at the time?"
Vijayasai Reddy concluded by warning TDP leaders to stop making baseless allegations against him. “There was no need to issue lookout notices against me. Bringing my name into this matter is tarnishing my reputation. I am considering filing a defamation suit against Chandrababu Naidu and KV Rao for spreading false allegations," he asserted.
