Indian Professionals Lead Global South in AI Adaptation: Report

A Global Labor Market Conference (GLMC) report highlights India as a leader in the Global South for adapting emerging technologies like AI, with over 70% of professionals actively seeking to upskill.

While global trust in government support for upskilling is low at 20%, India’s confidence is higher at 31%, driven by government initiatives. Concerns about skill obsolescence are widespread, with 55% of Indian workers fearing their skills may become irrelevant within five years.

India's reskilling urgency (55%) surpasses developed markets such as the US (51%), UK (44%), and Australia (49%). Cognitive skills (54%) and STEM capabilities (38%) are seen as crucial for thriving in a tech-driven economy.

Climate change also plays a significant role, with 32% of Indian respondents citing it as a factor influencing upskilling decisions. The report emphasizes India’s dynamic job market and leadership in AI and automation adaptation.
