''Never Forget Our Roots": Pawan Kalyan’s Message

On the occasion of Amarajeevi Potti Sriramulu's death anniversary, a commemorative event was organized at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram in Vijayawada. The event saw the participation of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan. Pawan Kalyan paid floral tributes to the statue of Potti Sriramulu, honoring the legendary figure.

Speaking at the event, Pawan Kalyan highlighted that Potti Sriramulu was not a leader confined to a specific community or caste but a leader of the entire Andhra race. He expressed the need for paying homage to Potti Sriramulu without associating the act with any particular community. He respectfully bowed in remembrance of the great freedom fighter at the event.

“Forgetfulness is human. People tend to forget those who fed them, supported them, and stood by them. However, it is essential to remember such individuals. We should never forget our roots,” Pawan Kalyan stated.

Reflecting on the sacrifices of Potti Sriramulu, he remarked, “After the state bifurcation, the value of Potti Sriramulu’s sacrifice became clearer. He undertook a grueling 56-day hunger strike, sacrificing his life for the creation of Andhra Pradesh. It is painful to recall that after his sacrifice, there weren’t even four people to carry his mortal remains. Fortunately, noble souls like Ghantasala and others stepped forward.”

Pawan Kalyan credited the existence of Andhra Pradesh to Potti Sriramulu’s ultimate sacrifice. He also shared that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu reminded the Cabinet of the significance of Potti Sriramulu’s sacrifice and emphasized organizing the commemorative event grandly. He expressed gratitude to Chandrababu Naidu for taking the initiative.
