AP Targets Full Broadband Coverage for Panchayats by March 2025

A review meeting on the progress of the Bharat Net-2 project, funded by Digital India, was held on Tuesday at the BSNL headquarters in Vijayawada. Andhra Pradesh FiberNet Managing Director K. Dinesh Kumar explained the project’s status and assured Digital India Fund officials that broadband services would be extended to all gram panchayats in the state by the end of March 2025. He emphasized that project work is being expedited to meet this target.

As part of the Bharat Net scheme, broadband connectivity has already been provided to 15,000 people in the state through AP FiberNet. Dinesh Kumar stated that an additional 11,254 panchayats would receive broadband services by March next year. Andhra Pradesh is currently the only state in India implementing broadband connectivity to all panchayats under the Bharat Net-2 scheme. He highlighted the state government's commitment toward building digital panchayats.

Digital India Fund Deputy Director General Sanjay Kumar lauded the progress of Bharat Net-2 project works in Andhra Pradesh. He stressed the importance of completing the project within the stipulated timeframe and assured full cooperation from the central authorities. Digital India Fund Director Harikrishnan and other officials also participated in the meeting.
