Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Receives Gratitude from Cinema Exhibitors

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s recent decision to abolish benefit shows for films has drawn appreciation from the Telangana Cinema Exhibitors Association. In a media briefing held today, the exhibitors expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and State Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy for addressing their long-standing concerns.

Speaking at the event, members of the Telangana Exhibitors Association stated that conducting benefit shows is not a financially viable practice. They pointed out that such shows often result in losses for exhibitors and argued for standardized ticket pricing for all films. "While ticket price hikes benefit producers, they do not translate into gains for exhibitors," they noted.

The association also highlighted disparities in ticket pricing practices between Telugu states and other states, emphasizing that this issue is unique to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

One exhibitor, Buchibabu, remarked that excessive ticket pricing drives audiences toward OTT platforms. While the exhibitors clarified that they are not against stars attending benefit shows, they suggested that such appearances should be planned thoughtfully. They added that restricting entry to ticket holders, such as those at Sandhya Theatre, could help prevent untoward incidents.

AP Exhibitors Welcome Revanth’s Decision

The decision to eliminate benefit shows has also garnered positive reactions from exhibitors in Andhra Pradesh. AP exhibitors welcomed Revanth Reddy’s review of ticket price hikes, stating that such measures alleviate audience concerns. They urged the Andhra Pradesh government to adopt similar policies, highlighting that inflated ticket rates are discouraging moviegoers.

Key Meeting Held by Telugu Film Chamber

In light of recent incidents, including the stampede at Sandhya Theatre, the Telugu Film Chamber convened a critical meeting today. Producers, distributors, and exhibitors participated to discuss ongoing developments and their implications.

The meeting also focused on providing support to affected families, with members agreeing to collect donations for relief efforts. They appealed to industry stakeholders to assist the family of the late Sritej, a young victim of the tragedy.
