Residents Demand Cancellation of Controversial Bheemili-Bhogapuram Road Plan
Several individuals have submitted petitions to officials demanding the cancellation of the proposed Bheemili–Bhogapuram road alignment. These petitions were presented during the Public Grievances Redressal Session (PGRS) held on Monday under the leadership of Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) Chairman MV Pranav Gopal.
The affected residents alleged that the alignment of the Bheemili–Bhogapuram greenfield road was arbitrarily altered during the tenure of the previous government to benefit YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leaders. They claimed that YSRCP MP Vijayasai Reddy’s associates purchased lands on both sides of the road after gaining prior knowledge of the proposed plans. They further alleged that the road was deliberately curved at Nereallavalasa in Bheemili Mandal to increase the value of these properties, causing significant losses to common people.
Expressing their grievances, the residents, including middle-class individuals and retired employees, stated that the previous government’s actions adversely affected their properties. They argued that they had purchased plots in various areas with the assurance of Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) approvals, but the VMRDA’s Master Plan 2041 ignored these developments. The proposed alignment, they said, unfairly cuts through these plots, which they termed a grave injustice.
The petitioners demanded the immediate cancellation of the alignment to protect their interests and ensure fair treatment.
