Kambhampati Hari Babu Appointed as Odisha Governor

Dr. Kambhampati Hari Babu, who currently serves as the Governor of Mizoram and hails from Andhra Pradesh, has been appointed as the Governor of Odisha. The central government announced the appointment of governors for several states, with transfers in three states and new appointments in two others.

As part of these changes, Dr. Kambhampati Hari Babu has been transferred from Mizoram to Odisha. Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, the Governor of Bihar, has been reassigned to Kerala, while the current Kerala Governor, Arif Mohammad Khan, has been transferred to Bihar. General Vijay Kumar Singh has been appointed as the Governor of Mizoram, and former Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla has been appointed as the Governor of Manipur. An official statement from Rashtrapati Bhavan confirmed these appointments.

Dr. Kambhampati Hari Babu was born in Thimmasamudram village in Prakasam district, Andhra Pradesh. He completed his education in Electronics and Communications Engineering at Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, where he also earned a Ph.D. Later, he worked as an Associate Professor at the same university before voluntarily retiring in 1993.

Following his academic career, Dr. Hari Babu entered active politics and played a significant role in the Andhra Pradesh BJP. He has served as an MLA and an MP. In July 2021, he was appointed as the Governor of Mizoram. His new appointment as the Governor of Odisha comes following the resignation of Odisha Governor Raghubhai Das, whose resignation has been accepted by the President.
