That's Why People Snatched Power from Jagan: Minister Dola's Strong Criticism of Former CM
Minister Dola Bala Veeranjaneya Swami has leveled sharp criticism at Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and leader of the YSR Congress Party. The minister alleged that the sins committed during Jagan’s five-year tenure continue to haunt the people of the state.
Dola accused Jagan of engaging in "psycho tactics" by orchestrating protests with his party cadre over increased power charges, which he himself had imposed. “Is it not true that Jagan’s government spent an additional ₹19,000 crore on power purchases beyond what was approved by the APERC (Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission)?” the minister questioned. He further condemned Jagan's call for protests as disgraceful, stating that imposing electricity burdens on the public earlier and now feigning ignorance is unacceptable.
The minister also alleged that Jagan’s government purchased electricity at inflated prices in the open market, spending ₹8 to ₹14 per unit instead of ₹5, solely to benefit from commissions. According to Dola, this corruption and greed for wealth directly increased the burden on the people.
Highlighting public dissatisfaction, the minister remarked, “It was because Jagan raised power charges that people snatched power from him.” He warned that any attempt to deceive the public would ultimately backfire and urged Jagan to learn this lesson.
