Emotional Scenes Unfold as Nitish Kumar Reddy Reunites with Family Post Melbourne Test

Nitish Kumar Reddy, the 21-year-old young cricketer who made headlines by scoring his maiden Test century, has become a sensation in the media and on social platforms. His remarkable innings during the Melbourne Test not only marked a personal milestone but also turned the tide for Team India. Coming to the crease after Rishabh Pant’s dismissal, Nitish built a crucial century partnership with Washington Sundar, helping the team avoid the follow-on and offering a glimmer of hope in the match.

Nitish’s family witnessed his incredible performance live at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Overcome with emotion, his father, Muthyala Reddy, shed tears of joy as he watched his son achieve this milestone. Following the conclusion of the third day’s play, Nitish reunited with his family at the hotel. A video of this heartwarming meeting, shared by the BCCI on social media, shows Nitish sharing emotional moments with his parents and sister.

Nitish’s face lit up as his father, mother, and sister arrived to meet him. Muthyala Reddy embraced his son warmly and kissed him affectionately, expressing immense pride in his achievement. “My son worked very hard to reach this stage. I am grateful to the Team India management for giving him this opportunity,” Muthyala Reddy stated.

Muthyala Reddy’s sacrifices played a significant role in Nitish’s journey to Team India. To support his son’s cricketing ambitions, Reddy resigned from his government job after being transferred from Visakhapatnam to Udaipur. Despite having 25 years of service left at Hindustan Zinc, he chose to give it up, enduring financial hardships to fulfill his dream of seeing Nitish become an international cricketer.

Nitish reciprocated his father’s dedication by steadily climbing the ranks. His performances in the IPL 2023 and 2024 seasons caught the selectors’ attention. When the opportunity arose to play in Australia, he seized it, making a strong case for himself in the fourth Test with an extraordinary century, further cementing his position in the team.
