Oscars 2026 Set for March 15 with Revised Nomination Process

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced key details for the 98th Academy Awards, a globally prestigious event in the film industry. The Oscars ceremony is scheduled to be held on March 15, 2026, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

The Academy revealed that the list of nominees for the 2026 Oscars will be announced on January 22, 2026. Notably, several changes have been introduced to the voting process across various categories. It was stated that every movie nominated will be mandatorily watched by the Academy members.

For the first time, the Academy has introduced a new category titled “Achievement in Casting.” This category will follow a two-phase voting process. Before the final round of voting, casting directors will undergo multiple rounds of testing.

In a significant update, the Academy clarified that movies created using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies will also be considered for nominations this year. However, it emphasized that this inclusion will not affect other films, and conventional films will continue to receive higher priority.

The eligibility window for Oscar contention includes movies released from January 2025 through December 2025. However, for the music categories, the final submission deadline has been set as October 15, 2025.
