Key Revelations in PSR Anjaneyulu’s Remand Report!
Former Andhra Pradesh Intelligence Chief and Indian Police Service officer PSR Anjaneyulu has been remanded to judicial custody for 14 days in connection with the alleged illegal arrest case of Mumbai-based actress Jethwani and her parents. According to information sourced from the remand report submitted by the CID to the court, several critical findings have come to light, suggesting that the arrest operation was premeditated and strategically executed.
The CID alleged in the remand report that the arrest of Jethwani and her parents was carried out under direct orders from PSR Anjaneyulu. The report further claimed that the entire operation was meticulously planned. As part of the investigation, the CID collected call data records (CDRs) of communications between then Intelligence Chief PSR Anjaneyulu, then Vijayawada Police Commissioner Kanthi Rana Tata, and then Deputy Commissioner of Police Vishal Gunni, covering the period from January to February 3, 2024. Additionally, call records of conversations between Anjaneyulu and Mumbai police officials from Jethwani ’s residential jurisdiction were also obtained.
Analysis of these records, the CID claimed, indicates that the arrests were not spontaneous but rather the outcome of a coordinated strategy.
Furthermore, the remand report mentioned that a complaint filed against Jethwani by an individual named Kukkala Vidyasagar was allegedly fabricated. It was reported that the real estate dealings at the center of the complaint were unrelated to Jethwani. Three intermediaries involved in the transaction reportedly submitted statements under Section 164 before a magistrate, asserting that financial transactions occurred but Jethwani had no connection to them. These depositions, according to investigators, undermine the credibility of Vidyasagar’s complaint.
Although Vishal Gunni had already been transferred to Visakhapatnam as DCP by the time of the incident, the remand report claimed that PSR Anjaneyulu summoned him to the Chief Minister’s Office and exerted pressure. According to a statement recorded by Vishal Gunni before the investigating officer, Anjaneyulu allegedly told him that he would be relieved to Visakhapatnam only after executing the arrest of Jethwani and her parents in Mumbai and bringing them to Andhra Pradesh; otherwise, he would have to remain in Vijayawada.
The report also noted that despite being served multiple notices, PSR Anjaneyulu failed to appear for interrogation. Authorities alleged that police personnel misused their power and acted contrary to the law. The report claimed that the victims—Jethwani and her parents—were forcibly brought by road from Mumbai to Vijayawada, detained at a guesthouse in Ibrahimpatnam, and coerced into withdrawing cases filed in Mumbai, actions described as violations of their personal liberty.
In his defence before the magistrate, PSR Anjaneyulu reportedly stated that he had no connection with the case. As Intelligence Chief, he claimed that when the matter came to his attention, he merely advised officers to “look into it,” asserting that he played no further role. He is said to have personally argued for much of the session, with legal counsel stepping in for technical clarifications.
The remand report also revealed that Anjaneyulu did not cooperate with the CID inquiry held the previous day. It stated that after analysing call data retrieved from his phone, the CID plans to seek police custody to extract further information.
