TDP’s Veeraiah Choudary Murdered, Police Form 12 Teams
Tension prevailed in Ongole, Prakasam district, following the brutal murder of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Naguluppalapadu mandal president and former MPP Muppavarapu Veeraiah Choudary. Unidentified assailants viciously attacked and killed him on Tuesday night while he was present in his office, located within an apartment complex in Ongole, around 7:30 PM.
According to police reports, four individuals arrived on two motorcycles and entered the office premises, where they launched an indiscriminate knife attack on Veeraiah Choudary. He sustained grievous injuries and was rushed to the hospital, where doctors confirmed he had died before arrival. The assailants fled the scene immediately after the attack.
Upon receiving information, Prakasam District Superintendent of Police Damodar and other senior officials visited the scene and conducted a preliminary investigation. State Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha also inspected the site, inquired about the case progress, and asserted that the perpetrators would be apprehended soon. She stated, “There is no question of letting anyone escape justice,” and added that she had visited the location under instructions from Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.
Police have intensified the investigation, exploring multiple angles, including real estate disputes, political rivalries, and personal enmities. To expedite the process, 12 special police teams have been formed, as confirmed by the SP. Officials expressed confidence that the case would be solved shortly and said they were reviewing CCTV footage as part of the investigation.
The murder of Veeraiah Choudary has led to a tense atmosphere in Ongole. TDP leaders expressed deep shock and grief over his death. It was also reported that his father-in-law, former MLA Eedara Haribabu, suffered a health setback upon seeing the deceased’s body and has been hospitalized. According to party sources, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is likely to attend Veeraiah Choudary’s funeral on Wednesday.
