Amaravati Sees Huge Influx of Visitors Ahead of Capital Re-Inauguration

Thousands of people from across Andhra Pradesh are converging on Amaravati to attend the public meeting where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to participate. The event marks the ceremonial restart of the capital construction works. As a result, the Vijayawada West Bypass route is experiencing significant congestion due to the influx of attendees arriving for the occasion.
The bypass, built to connect the capital region from Chinnavutapalli in Krishna district, has become a major access point for people traveling from distant regions to Amaravati. Large groups of people have been seen arriving in private buses and cars from districts such as Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Manyam, East Godavari, West Godavari, and Eluru.
People expressed joy over the resumption of the capital construction after a five-year gap. To ease the movement of the attendees and avoid inconvenience, authorities have made special arrangements along the bypass route. Support services, including the distribution of drinking water and buttermilk packets, are being provided to those traveling from far-off areas. Given the expectation that lakhs of people may pass through this route, officials have taken precautions to ensure smooth traffic and avoid any disruptions.
Several individuals from the Amadalavalasa constituency in Srikakulam district shared their views, stating that they were happy about the recommencement of the Amaravati project. “We came in response to the call given by our leader Chandrababu Naidu, to welcome Prime Minister Modi and to express our support for Amaravati's construction. It is essential for the state to have a capital. We believe that under this government and with the Centre’s cooperation, Amaravati will be completed,” they said. They also mentioned that there was prolonged uncertainty over the capital during the past five years, and now, with clarity emerging, they are hopeful the state will progress on the path of development.
Public sentiment is positive over the fact that the capital works, originally launched by Prime Minister Modi, are now resuming in his presence. Many expressed hope that within the next five years, the construction will be completed, and Andhra Pradesh will be able to proudly declare Amaravati as its capital. The atmosphere along the Vijayawada West Bypass has turned festive with thousands of vehicles pouring in, and the flow of people to Amaravati continues unabated.
