When Will India Retaliate? Former Pak High Commissioner Abdul Basit Posts Sensational Tweet

Former Pakistan High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit has stirred a controversy with a tweet speculating about a possible Indian military retaliation against Pakistan. He made this claim in the aftermath of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, in which 26 people were killed.
In a tweet posted on Tuesday, Abdul Basit suggested that India might carry out retaliatory strikes on Pakistan following the upcoming Russia Victory Day Parade. He pointed out that the Victory Day Parade is scheduled for May 9 and that India may launch its operation on May 10 or May 11. His tweet has drawn widespread attention due to its timing and implications.
Preparations are currently underway for the Victory Day Parade in Russia, and invitations have been extended to global leaders to attend the event. Initially, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had considered participating in the ceremony.
However, following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reportedly cancelled his plans to visit Russia. Although there were discussions about sending Defence Minister Rajnath Singh as a representative, sources indicate that he too may not attend due to the prevailing circumstances.
Amidst these developments, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke with Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the phone on Monday. During the conversation, President Vladimir Putin condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam and expressed solidarity with India in the fight against terrorism. He also assured continued cooperation between the two nations in combating extremist threats.
In this context, Abdul Basit, who has served as Pakistan's envoy to both India and Russia, posted his now-viral tweet speculating that India may conduct military strikes on Pakistan shortly after the Russian parade.
