Jana Jagarana Samithi Demands Immediate Name Change of Karachi Bakery in Visakhapatnam

Amid heightened national sensitivity following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the name of a bakery located in Venkateswara Nagar, Visakhapatnam—Karachi Bakery—has come under sharp criticism. Members of the Jana Jagarana Samithi staged a protest today demanding that the bakery’s name be changed immediately.
The protesters gathered in front of the bakery on Diamond Park Road, asserting strong opposition to the use of “Karachi,” a major city in Pakistan, as the name of a business establishment in India. The group questioned the appropriateness of naming an Indian commercial enterprise after a city from a country frequently associated with hostile acts against India.
Speaking to the media, representatives of the Jana Jagarana Samithi expressed that the use of the name “Karachi” was offensive and hurtful to the sentiments of Indian citizens. “This name is an insult to the people of our country,” said the group, calling upon the bakery management to respond promptly by changing the name.
The protesters warned the management not to take their demand lightly, cautioning that serious consequences would follow if action was not taken. They further stated that if the name is not changed immediately, they would seek intervention from the central government, demanding that a sedition case be filed against the bakery owners.
The protest led to brief tension in the surrounding area during the demonstration.
