Modi's Address on Terrorism Sparks Support, Questions from Across Political Spectrum

India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, through his address to the nation on Monday night, once again made India’s firm stance against terrorism clear to the world. Rajnath Singh made this statement in reference to Modi’s mention of “Operation Sindoor,” highlighting how the Indian Armed Forces successfully eliminated terrorists at their bases.
In a message posted on his Twitter account, Rajnath Singh said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech not only inspired the citizens of the country but also reflected India’s military, diplomatic, and moral strength. He added that the entire nation is proud of the bravery and valor of the Indian Armed Forces and expressed gratitude for the strong leadership provided by the Prime Minister.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also responded to the speech, stating that “Operation Sindoor” sent a clear message to the enemies of the nation about the limits they must not cross. Amit Shah explained that the operation resulted in the successful destruction of terrorist bases located in Pakistan’s territory by Indian forces.
Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha Member Kapil Sibal remarked that the opposition stands in support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the fight against terrorism. However, he urged the Prime Minister to demonstrate the courage to declare Pakistan a terrorist state. Kapil Sibal also questioned why the Prime Minister did not mention the issue of U.S. involvement in the India-Pakistan dispute during his speech.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma commented that India is effectively destroying terrorists and their shelters. He noted that Prime Minister Modi had made it unequivocally clear that terrorism and dialogue cannot go hand in hand.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the Prime Minister’s speech instilled self-confidence in every Indian. He further noted that “Operation Sindoor” strongly conveyed the message that terrorism will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
