Another Major Setback for YSRCP: Legislative Council Dy Chairperson Zakia Khanam Resigns
The opposition YSR Congress Party in Andhra Pradesh has suffered yet another significant setback. Senior party leader and Deputy Chairperson of the Legislative Council, Zakia Khanam, has resigned from both her official position and the party membership. Her resignation letter was reportedly delivered to the Legislative Council office by her personal staff.

Zakia Khanam hails from Rayachoti in Annamayya district and was nominated as a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) under the Governor's quota in July 2020. She was later elected as the Deputy Chairperson of the Legislative Council.

According to political circles, Zakia Khanam has been reportedly dissatisfied with the leadership of the YSR Congress Party for nearly two years. Her decision to resign is believed to be the outcome of this prolonged discontent.

With Zakia Khanam's resignation, the number of MLCs who have left the YSR Congress Party has further increased. So far, a total of six MLCs have resigned from the party. The list includes Karri Padmasri, Pothula Sunitha, Jayamangala Venkatramana, Balli Kalyan Chakravarthy, and Marri Rajasekhar.
