Pakistan’s Bargain Over Sindhu Waters! Appeals to India with a Letter
In a notable shift from its earlier assertive stance, Pakistan has appealed to India for a reconsideration of its decision on the Sindhu river water agreement. Aware of the severe consequences that could arise if the treaty is halted, Pakistan has approached India with a formal request for dialogue.

According to reports, Pakistan’s Ministry of Water Resources has written a letter to India’s Ministry of Jal Shakti, expressing deep concern that a potential cessation of Sindhu river waters could lead to acute drought-like conditions in Pakistan. The letter, it is understood, was forwarded to India’s Ministry of External Affairs in accordance with protocol.

The letter reportedly conveyed Pakistan’s willingness to hold discussions on this sensitive matter, marking a departure from its previous confrontational posture. This move comes in the wake of India’s consistent and firm stand on the issue.

India has repeatedly made it clear that there would be no compromise on the Sindhu river waters. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier asserted, “Blood and water cannot flow together,” underlining the nation's unwavering stance. The Indian government has reiterated several times that any talks with Pakistan would be limited strictly to issues related to terrorism and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), leaving no room for concessions on the Sindhu water agreement.
