AP Employee Transfers Approved: Key Dates and Eligibility Guidelines

The Andhra Pradesh government has approved the initiation of the general transfer process for state government employees, lifting the earlier ban imposed on transfers. Official orders have been issued revoking the restriction, and the Finance Department has granted approval for transfers to be carried out across the state from May 16 to June 2.
In line with this decision, the government has released detailed guidelines outlining the eligibility criteria and priorities to be followed by respective departments while implementing the transfers.
As per the released directives, all state government employees who have completed five years of service at the same location must be mandatorily transferred. This also applies to those who have remained in the same area for five years even after receiving a promotion.
Employees with less than five years of service may also apply for transfer voluntarily by submitting personal requests.
Certain categories of employees will receive exemptions or priority based on special circumstances. Employees scheduled to retire on or before May 31, 2026, are exempted from the general transfer process. Employees with visual impairments will be given priority in transfers upon request. Parents of children with developmental disabilities will also be given preferential consideration for transfers if they submit a request.
Furthermore, employees who have served for more than two years in tribal areas will be prioritized for transfers if they so desire. Applications from employees requesting transfers due to medical reasons will also be considered. Widowed female employees will be given priority in the transfer process upon request. In addition, the government has clarified in the guidelines that spouse cases—where both husband and wife are government employees—will be given preference to work at the same or nearby locations.
