IPL 2025 Resumes After Delay: Franchises Announce Player Replacements
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, which had been postponed for a week due to tensions between Pakistan and India, is set to resume today. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to conduct the remaining league matches across six cities. These matches will take place from today until May 27.

Following the completion of league matches, the knockout stage will begin on May 29, with the grand finale scheduled for June 3. The tournament will restart today with a match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Due to the one-week postponement of the league, several foreign players returned to their respective countries. Some of them were unwilling to return to India, while others were ruled out due to injuries. As a result, franchises made replacements to fill the vacancies left by these players. Below is a comprehensive list of recent changes made by the franchises:

Punjab Kings (PBKS):
Due to a thigh muscle injury, Lockie Ferguson was ruled out, and PBKS brought in Kyle Jamieson as his replacement. Additionally, Mitchell Owen was named as a replacement for Glenn Maxwell, who sustained a finger injury.

Gujarat Titans (GT):
Kusal Mendis was brought in to replace Jos Buttler, who returned to England to participate in a limited-overs series against the West Indies.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG):
William O’Rourke replaced star pacer Mayank Yadav, who was sidelined due to a back injury.

Mumbai Indians (MI):
Jonny Bairstow was brought in as a replacement for Will Jacks, who left to join the England team for the West Indies series. Richard Gleeson replaced Ryan Rickelton, who departed to fulfill national team commitments with South Africa.

Delhi Capitals (DC):
Mustafizur Rahman of Bangladesh was brought in to replace Jake Fraser-McGurk, who withdrew from the tournament due to personal reasons.
