Mitchell Marsh’s Super Century Powers Lucknow to Mammoth Total Against Gujarat

In a high-scoring encounter of the IPL 2025 season, Lucknow Super Giants batters unleashed a run-fest against Gujarat Titans. After winning the toss, Gujarat Titans captain opted to bowl first, only to see Lucknow pile on an imposing 235 runs for the loss of just two wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh led the charge with a sensational century, scoring 117 runs off 64 deliveries, which included 10 boundaries and 8 sixes. His explosive knock set the tone for the innings and left the Gujarat bowlers struggling for answers. Nicholas Pooran complemented the assault with an unbeaten 56 off just 27 balls, smashing 4 fours and 5 sixes in a brisk half-century.
Lucknow began their innings with Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh opening the batting. The duo maintained an aggressive approach even beyond the powerplay, adding 91 runs for the first wicket in just 9.5 overs. Aiden Markram contributed 36 runs off 24 balls with 3 boundaries and 2 sixes before being caught by Shahrukh Khan off Sai Kishore’s bowling.
Mitchell Marsh, however, continued his dominance, dispatching the Gujarat bowlers to all parts of the ground with a flurry of boundaries. His innings came to an end in the 19th over when he was caught by Sherfane Rutherford off Arshad Khan.
After Marsh’s dismissal, captain Rishabh Pant joined Nicholas Pooran at the crease. Pant played a quickfire cameo, scoring 16 runs off 6 balls, including 2 sixes. Meanwhile, Pooran remained aggressive from the start, anchoring the latter part of the innings and ensuring Lucknow reached a commanding total. Together, Marsh and Pooran forged a pivotal 121-run partnership for the second wicket.
Lucknow's innings also featured 10 extra runs, comprising 1 bye, 2 leg byes, 6 wides, and 1 no-ball.
On the bowling front, Sai Kishore and Arshad Khan were the only wicket-takers for Gujarat Titans. The rest of the bowling unit, including marquee names like Mohammed Siraj, Kagiso Rabada, Prasidh Krishna, and Rashid Khan, struggled to make breakthroughs and were heavily punished by the Lucknow batters. As a result, Gujarat Titans were set a steep target of 236 runs.
