Sunrisers Defeat RCB by 42 Runs in High-Scoring Clash
After recently eliminating the Lucknow Super Giants, Sunrisers Hyderabad secured yet another remarkable victory. In a match held in Lucknow against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers achieved a convincing win by 42 runs. Chasing a target, Bangalore was bowled out for 189 runs in 19.5 overs. Destructive opener Ishan Kishan, with an unbeaten half-century, played a commanding innings, scoring 94 not out off 48 balls, including 7 fours and 5 sixes. Captain Pat Cummins delivered an impactful performance with the ball, taking 3 wickets for 28 runs and playing a key role in the team’s victory.

Winning the toss, Bangalore opted to field. Sunrisers Hyderabad, batting first, posted a formidable total of 231 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. In pursuit of the 232-run target, Bangalore got off to a strong start through openers Philip Salt (62 off 32 balls; 4 fours, 5 sixes) and Virat Kohli (43 off 25 balls; 7 fours, 1 six). They managed to score 72 runs without losing a wicket in the powerplay, which gave the impression that the chase could be easily achieved. This pair put on 80 runs for the first wicket.

However, following their departure, Bangalore’s innings faltered. Mayank Agarwal (11), Rajat Patidar (18), and captain Jitesh Sharma (24 off 15 balls) failed to build momentum. The Sunrisers’ bowlers and fielders showcased excellent coordination, effectively restraining RCB’s progress. As a result, Bangalore lost its final seven wickets for just 16 runs.

Among the Sunrisers’ bowlers, Pat Cummins took three wickets, while Ishan Malinga claimed two. Jaydev Unadkat, Harshal Patel, Harsh Dubey, and Nitish Kumar Reddy each took one wicket. This victory marked the fifth win for Sunrisers in 13 matches. The Hyderabad team is scheduled to play its final league match of the season on May 25 against Kolkata Knight Riders.
