Thalliki Vandanam: Chandrababu Gives Green Signal to Another Major 'Super Six' Promise

Amaravati: The coalition government in Andhra Pradesh, led by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, has taken a significant step towards implementing one of its key election promises under the “Super Six” guarantees. On Wednesday, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu approved the implementation of the “Thalliki Vandanam” scheme, which aims to provide financial support to lakhs of mothers across the state.
In line with the government's decision to coincide with the completion of its first year in office, the funds under this scheme will be released on Thursday, June 12, 2025. The government formally issued the corresponding Government Order (GO) on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, laying down the implementation procedures.
According to official sources, the scheme will benefit the mothers of 67,27,164 eligible students across Andhra Pradesh. Under this initiative, the government will directly deposit ₹8,745 crores into the bank accounts of these mothers. As stated in the election manifesto, the benefit applies to every child in a family who is pursuing education. The government described this as a measure that would bring substantial reassurance to mothers.
The scheme is also applicable to new admissions in the current academic year. Children newly enrolled in Class 1, as well as students entering the first year of Intermediate education, will be included under the scheme. However, in these cases, funds will be transferred only after the completion of the admission process and after the government receives the relevant data. Officials clarified that once the data is verified, the eligible mothers will receive the financial assistance. The government’s release of a clear and structured GO with guidelines for implementing the scheme was noted as a significant step.
The coalition government has been actively pursuing the implementation of the “Super Six” promises since coming to power. These include the enhancement of pensions, revival of Anna canteens, announcement of a mega DSC recruitment, and the launch of Deepam-2 for the distribution of cooking gas cylinders to women.
With the rollout of the “Thalliki Vandanam” scheme, the government has fulfilled another major promise. Government sources stated that by launching this scheme on the occasion of its first anniversary in power, the administration is reaffirming its commitment to its promises made to the people.
