When Will Nara Lokesh Be Given Party Leadership? This Is Chandrababu's Response!
Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has offered an intriguing response to the question of when Nara Lokesh will be handed over the leadership reins of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). Addressing the issue, Chandrababu Naidu emphasized that the party gives significant importance to youth leadership. However, he clarified that any decision regarding Nara Lokesh will be made in accordance with the party's constitution and the sentiments of its cadre.
“There are certain rules and regulations in any party. In the TDP, we have always given high priority to the younger generation. No other party in the country has as many young MPs and young MLAs as ours. Even in the Union Cabinet, the youngest minister is from our party. Our party also stands ahead in terms of educational qualifications,” said Nara Chandrababu Naidu.
Praising Nara Lokesh's active role in working for the welfare of the party's grassroots members, he added, “Lokesh is doing a lot for the welfare of the party workers. Any decision regarding Lokesh will be taken by considering the party’s constitution and the sentiments of the party activists.”
These remarks come at a time when internal discussions within the party over Nara Lokesh’s leadership role have intensified, especially during the recent Mahanadu conclave. Several senior leaders and ministers reportedly urged Chandrababu Naidu to appoint Nara Lokesh as the party’s Working President. This demand reflects the cadre’s confidence in Lokesh’s leadership and signals the perceived need for generational transition within the nearly four-decade-old party.
At present, Nara Lokesh serves as the National General Secretary of the TDP and holds the ministerial portfolio for Human Resources Development and Information Technology in the state government. His active involvement in party affairs has already become a topic of broad discussion.
