Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Mumbai to attend the last rites of legendary singer
Lata Mangeshkar. The funeral of the singer will be held at 6.30 pm at Shivaji Park Grounds.
The funeral procession was taken out from Lata's residence in Mumbai to Shivaji Park. A huge crowd of fans had gathered. Many movie stars and celebrities took part in the procession.
The funeral rites will be conducted with full state honours. Lata Mangeshkar, who was undergoing treatment at Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital for the past few weeks, breathed her last on Sunday morning.
People belonging to all walks of life, including film, politicians, and others, expressed condolence to the bereaved family. They said that the void created with her demise cannot be filled.
Rahul Gandhi took to Twitter and said, "Received the sad news of Lata Mangeshkar ji’s demise. She remained the most beloved voice of India for many decades. Her golden voice is immortal and will continue to echo in the hearts of her fans. My condolences to her family, friends and fans".
