Congress to stage agitations across Telangana over suspension of BJP MLAs

Hyderabad: In a surprising move, the Congress party in Telangana on Tuesday called for statewide agitation to protest against the suspension of BJP MLAs from the Assembly budget session.

Addressing the media on the annual budget presented by Finance Minister Harish Rao on Monday, TPCC chief Revanth Reddy said that there would be protests in support of the BJP. Although the BJP and the Congress are ideologically taking different paths, he was ready to support the BJP in protest against the functioning of the TRS government in Telangana.

"The suspension of BJP MLAs is not correct. Though ideologically our party is against the BJP, we are supporting the latter, as the Speaker's decision is not right. We had also obstructed the Governor's speech during the Telangana movement. The right to protest is a democratic right. Agitations will be launched in all manual headquarters across Telangana on Tuesday in protest against the functioning of the Speaker. We will also lodge a complaint with the Governor tomorrow," he said.

The three BJP MLAs were suspended on the first day of the Telangana Assembly budget session. BJP MLAs said that budget meeting would traditionally start with the Governor's speech. Three MLAs from that party, Raja Singh, Raghunandan Rao and Eatala Rajender, who had stormed into the Well, were suspended from the budget session.
