CM Jagan announces cash reward for power lifter Sheikh Sadia Almas
Amaravathi: International powerlifter Sheikh Sadia Almas called on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Tuesday. Accompanied by her father Sheikh Sandani, she came to the CM's Chambers in the Assembly. In turn, Jagan hailed Sadia's achievements.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh for Sadia on behalf of the government and responded positively to setting up a Powerlifting academy in Mangalagiri of Guntur district. CM Jagan said that his government would always take the initiative to promote the players.
Mangalagiri is the hometown of Sheikh Sadia Almas. Encouraged by her father's passion for powerlifting, she has had many successes internationally under his guidance. In last year's Asian Powerlifting Championship held in Turkey, Sadia won three gold medals and one silver.
