Thieves tried to steal iron from Nellore court: SP
Nellore, April 18: The police arrested the accused in the sensational Nellore court theft case. Briefing the media here on Sunday, district SP Ch. Vijaya Rao said the accused tried to steal iron from a court building which is under construction, but couldn’t do it. “Hence, they stole a few items from the present court,” he revealed.
The SP said, Hayat and Rasool, both are liquor addicts and petty thieves, lives near Atmakuru bus stand. Hayath is accused in 15 cases and attends court regularly. He planned to steal iron from the under construction building and the duo entered the court premises on the midnight of April 13.
As dogs started barking, they entered court’s first floor. They broke open the lock of the court and found a bag in an almirah. The duo stole electronic items from the bag and threw the bag in a culvert. The SP said that the accused have admitted their crime. The cops recovered laptop, tab and four cell phones from them. “There is no political angle for the theft,” he clarified.
