Kadapa: Techie sustains serious burn injuries as laptop explodes while working, critical

A software engineer on Monday sustained serious burn injuries when her laptop exploded while working in her home at Mekavaripalli village in B. Kodur mandal in YSR district. She was identified as 22-year-old Sumalatha. 
 
According to family members, explosion took place when she was working keeping the laptop on her thighs. The victim fell unconscious because she came in contact with electricity due to short- circuit. On seeing smoke emanating from the room, the kin came to know about the incident.
 
Initially, they shifted her to Sunrise Hospital for medical treatment. As she suffered 80 per cent burn injuries, Sumalatha was moved to the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Kadapa. Her condition is stated to be serious. She is working for an IT firm called Magic Tech Solutions located in Bengaluru. There are several instances in the past where people have suffered injuries with the explosion of laptops but this incident is an alarming one.
