Centre implementing CTS from 2017, Somu Veerraju should ask PM Modi: Minister Karumuri
Vijayawada, April 21: Responding to the allegations of Andhra Pradesh BJP president Somu Veerraju over Cash Transfer Scheme (CTS), Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Karumuri Venkata Nageswara Rao asked him to question Prime Minister Narendra Modi as to why the Central government has been implementing the CTS for beneficiaries, who are willing to accept cash instead of PDS rice.
The minister informed the media that the Centre had asked all the states to implement CTS in 2017. Rubbish the criticism of Veerraju, Karumuri has said that the state government gave two options to beneficiaries. “We are ready to give either rice or cash depending on the options selected by them,” he clarified and added that there is no compulsion for beneficiaries to opt only CTS.
Karumuri further said that the Modi government has been implementing the CTS in Chandigarh, Puducherry, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli, all are union territories. To a question, he mentioned that new ration cards would be given in June.
