CM Jagan lays foundation for world’s largest 5,230 MW IRESP project in Kurnool district

Kurnool, May 17: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy laid foundation stone for world’s largest 5,230 MW Integrated Renewable Energy Storage Project (IRESP) on Tuesday at Gummitham Tanda of Brahmanapalli village in Orvakallu mandal, Kurnool district. The Greenko Group has taken up the project with an estimated cost of Rs 15,000 crore.
 
Speaking on the occasion, the CM expressed happiness over Kurnool district getting worldwide recognition with IRESP project. He said that it is the first project in the world which will produce green hydrogen. “Arcelor Mittal had signed an agreement with the Greenko for supply of 1,250 MW to their firms,” he mentioned and added that AP will offer plenty of opportunities for companies interested in green power.
 
Jagan said that the IRESP project will generate employment to 15,000 persons during the construction stage. “Once completed, then 3,000 will get jobs in IRESP directly and employment to 5,000 indirectly,” he stated. Ministers Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy and Jayaram, MPs, MLCs and MLAs, and officials were present.
