Southwest season will record highest rainfall in the country, reports IMD
New Delhi: The Southwest monsoon enters Kerala on June 1 of every year is generally considered to be the time when the southwest monsoon enters India. But this time the monsoons came three days earlier. In this context, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) responded.
Revising the previous forecast, it said that this time the southwest season will record the highest rainfall in the country. According to the IMD, India is likely to receive 103 per cent rainfall over the long-term average. According to forecasts released last April, the country will receive normal rainfall (99 per cent) due to the southwest monsoon. New forecasts were made due to changed weather conditions and the arrival of monsoon in the country.
IMD Director General Mrityunjay Mahapatra commenting on this, he revealed that advance estimates have been updated. The southwest monsoon is expected to bring heavy rainfall over many parts of the country. Central and northern India will receive an average of 106 per cent rainfall while the northeastern states receive below-average rainfall. Overall, the average rainfall across the country is above 100 per cent.
